
Favourites include the Eyed, Poplar and Lime Hawks and the captivating Puss Moth which boasts one of the most remarkable larvae anywhere on the planet and is also very easy to breed! The larvae can be reared in plastic boxes at sensible densities or in net cages. We can give further advice if needed.
Please remember that the resulting pupae from native species will not hatch until the following spring. These will need to be overwintered in airtight containers in refrigerators or cool out buildings.
Commonly bred exotics are the Chinese Oak Silk Moth (Antheraea pernyi) and the breathtaking Indian Moon Moth (Actias selene). Both species produce huge moths in the same year, the adults pair easily in net popup cages and the magnificent larvae are a joy to rear in large plastic containers or on cut food in cages.
