Framed insects are supplied in accordance with ethical practice. Specimens are, in the main, harvested from overseas butterfly projects that safeguard habitats and provide livelihoods for local people who may otherwise suffer serious poverty. Purchasing these insects protects the future of the insects and those who farm them. Other species that may be supplied are taken from captive breeding programmes in accordance with UK, EU and international legislation.
We use Riker Mounts for our frames: originally designed by an American lepidopterist, Riker Mounts are now extensively used for displaying all types of insects, shells, large botanical specimens, coins, photographs and other collectables without the need for pins or glue!
Insects are placed on the internal, white, fibre filling, and are pressure held by the glass topped lid, giving stunning results. If desired, specimens can be re-pinned and stored elsewhere.
