Product Information

Currently unavailable. A lovely native hawk moth that is beautifully patterned with various shades of green. On the wing in May and June, this species is easy to mass rear in ventilated cages, or large, rectangular plastic tubs kept in cool out-houses. The larvae are a vibrant shade of green and can be variously marked with red. They do well on lime, birch and elm. Pairing is virtually guaranteed -  the adults stay together throughout the next day in the familiar hawk moth pairing position. Attractive and fascinating in all its stages this is another UK sphinigade that is fun to rear and release. Highly recommended for schools and beginners.

Larval foodplants: lime (tilia); birch (betulae); elm.

Rearing: plastic boxes: large, rectanguar plastic tubs; cages; sleeves.
