Product Information

Currently unavailable. A large example of the antheraea genus which is dificult to obtain but we now have a regular supply from India. Mylitta is particularly notable for its egg-shaped cocoon and very attractive larvae which we have found do well in net cages in a warm environment such as a conservatory. Regular spraying of the foodplant is very beneficial to the health of the larvae which like to drink. Although commonly reared on oak, ours took to apple and eucalyptus gunni readily and doubtless a variety of trees will be taken. A very interesting species that will suit the moderately experienced breeder.

Larval foodplants: oak (crataegus), apple (malus), eucalyptus (gunni) and others.

Rearing: plastic boxes and cages.

Photographs: 5th instar new; 5th instar mature; 5th instar mature; adult male at rest.
