Product Information

Currently unavailable. Euryalus is a lesser known and infrequently offered member of the hyalophora genus and a rare treat for the dedicated breeder. Whilst not as commonly bred as its cousin the robin moth; it is a beautiful, rich red silk moth with a fascinating larval stage. Moths tend to emerge in June in the UK and the larvae can be fed on ceanothus, or can be tried on sallow and/ or various members of the willow family. In its native habitat, euraylus takes a wide variety of trees and experimentation may yield surprising results.

Rearing: plastic boxes, cages and sleeves in warmer, dryer climates.

Larval foodplants: plum (prunus), apple (malus), sallow (salix), willow (salix).

Photographs: egg trio arranged on leaf; 1st instar larvae; 2nd instar larvae; 3rd instar larvae.
