Product Information

Sent when ready in August or September. The jersey tiger is certainly one of our most colourful moths and is also a day flying, nectar feeding species. With strongholds in South Devon it has expanded its range over the years and is now to be found in several southern counties of England. The caterpillars feed on a variety of low growing plants and shrubs including: dandelion; white dead nettle; plantain; nettle; elm and even lettuce. A beautiful insect (once confined to the Channel Islands) that is well worth rearing.

Larval foodplants: nettle (urticae), elm (ulmus), plantain (plantago), comfrey (boragainacea) and others.

Rearing: plastic boxes, tubs and flowerpot cages and sleeves.
