Product Information

Sent when ready from September (2012). A delightful native hawk moth that is on the wing in June.  Larvae feeds on willowherb, bedstraws and fuschia among others. They are best reared on potted food but can happily tolerate being reared in cages on cut food stood in water. Easy to rear Hawk Moth with a fascinating eyed caterpillar that can take two colour forms: brown or green. Adult moths will pair easily if they are provided with nectar plants or are hand fed on honey solution. Pairing is brief and not always observed.

Larval Foodplants: rosebay willowherb, greater willowherb, (epilobium), bedstraw (galium).

Rearing: plastic boxes, cages and sleeves.

Photographs: egg x 20 magnification.
