Ova now expected in August. The Common Blue is Britain's most common and most widespread blue, with its range extending as far north as Orkney and the Outer Hebrides. It frequents a wide range of grassland habitats such as meadows, coastal dunes, woodland clearings and other sites where their food plants are found. Larval host plants include: Bird's Foot Trefoil; Black Medick; Common Restharrow; White Clover, etc. There are two broods in the UK, but three broods can be achieved easily in warm conditions. It is unusual to have livestock of this species and this is an ideal opportunity to start your own breeding programme.
